FAQs

Questions about potholing methods? See our commonly asked questions below, or contact us for a personalized bid.

  • What is potholing?

Existing utilities are located by drilling a small hole around 12 inches deep. Hydro excavation is then used to remove dirt and debris until the underground utilities are located.

  • Does potholing use water or air?

Our method of potholing uses water and a vacuum excavator truck.

  • Is potholing still possible when it’s cold outside?

Yes, potholing is still possible in frozen ground. Our vac trucks have heaters that prevent water from freezing during the process.
